Help I feel stuck…
Who of us has not had those days where we feel like however hard we are trying - here we are back in the same old place… AGAIN. Feeling bad about ourselves and our lives.
Maybe we haven’t used that gym membership for a few months - again. Our bank balance is terrifying - again. Our house is a bomb site - again. Same work stresses or burnout - again. Same sickness - again. Having the same disagreement or row AGAIN. Same feelings of failure and uselessness. Round and round we go. *Sigh*
Whether the areas we feel stuck in are our relationships with other people/money/our bodies/minds/work/homes… We all have areas in our lives where we feel stuck. But are you tired of struggling and coming back to the same place?
If you are anything like me you have tried hard to overcome these things and now you just feel fed up with feeling fed up. How can we change this and what is going on!?
The world is full of so much noise at the moment. There is a hell of a lot of information out there. Online courses, videos, books, apps etc all promising us big results.
“This is it” we think as we click BUY NOW on the latest fix-it we have discovered to all our problems. Yet sadly here we are in the same old spot. Ho hum.
The problem with information is that it is generally what has worked for other humans and their problems at some point in time. Now, this may be exactly what we need but the answer to our problems is rarely found in getting more information. Do smokers or dieters not have the information!? We know what we need to do really right? We know we need to earn and save money. Eat better. Sleep earlier. Work smarter not harder etc… Does this mean we do it?
It’s not a lack of information that is our problem - it’s that we can’t seem to apply it in our own lives. So then we feel bad and look for more information. Hello overwhelm!
I believe we don’t need anything more, we are not lacking. More often it’s simply the beliefs and knowledge we already have that is holding us back. The answer to all our problems is found within us.
Sounds so simple but practically how is that helpful? How do we “overcome” OR “defeat” those beliefs about life?
I am not sure we do. I think it is simpler than that. I have been pondering this for a while now and it seems to me that we actually make a thought, that we had at some point in time, become a belief. Something just looks true to us - and then we live from that “truth” and perpetuate it more.
It is a vicious cycle we create. The beliefs actually become true for us as we live from them. I have seen it myself in lots of areas of life. No matter how many times I spread my arms to the sky and shout “I am a money magnet” I’m not. I actually seem to repel it lol! This has nothing to do with money - it’s my beliefs that do that. Money is just paper, metal and numbers on a screen. The meaning I give it creates my experience of it.
To overcome anything we just need to step into the unknown - despite our beliefs. Regardless of my thinking and all of my bad feelings. Regard-less.
The thinking I have is creating my bad feelings NOT the thing - my body, work, money, relationships, other people or even the damn parking ticket. This is the GREATEST untangling you can ever make. It’s never the thing we are thinking about - what we are feeling is our thinking about the thing. BIG BLOODY DIFFERENCE.
Feeling bad is a sign that I have some thinking, not that there is anything wrong with me or my world.
This is why I am so passionate about sharing the way our amazing creative minds work. How we work perfectly NOW - in each moment. How the only real choice we make is our next step. Where we can make a healthy and helpful choice - or not.
This means I don’t need to get all busy understanding all my beliefs, where they came from and trying to overcome them. Nope. I can choose to come back home to now and act regardless. I CAN do one next right thing. Now is new. We can do anything we would like - by taking one teeny step out of what we know into the unknown…
